Hollow Lantern

Hollow Lantern is quiet, atmospheric, and easily my favourite thing I've played this season. You wander a shadowy town relighting lamps and slowly piecing together what happened here. There's no combat pressure, just curiosity pulling you forward.

The controls are a simple virtual stick with a context button, and they never got in the way. Puzzles are logical, hints are gentle, and the soundtrack does a lot of the heavy lifting for the mood.

Battery use is moderate and it stayed cool, which is nice for a game you'll want to play in long unhurried sittings. If you like being told a story through a place rather than cutscenes, this is worth your evening.
